King Of Bronx

Bronx

The King of Queens Bronx.  That's right.  The Yanks are the King of the Bronx.  The Yankees extended their winning streak to seven games.  A-Rod and Teixeira both went yard.  CC pitched a gem.  And the Yanks just keep rolling along.

CC

CC took the bump against rookie O's pitcher Brad Bergesson.  Both teams jumped on the opposing pitcher early.  The O's started off the game with one run in the first.  Then the Yanks took the lead on a two run homer by A-Rod in the bottom of the inning.  The game then went scoreless until the seventh when the Yanks exploded for seven runs off a combined force of Bergesen, Chris Ray, and Mark Hendrickson.  By this point, the game was clearly over.  The Yanks continue their offensive hot streak and the pitching continues to be stellar.  The winning streak is now seven and it doesn't look like it's gonna be stopping any time soon.  The Yanks are on fire and are now starting to look like the Yankees everyone expected they would be at the beginning of the season.

Brian Bruney

Now, when you thought the Yanks were on fire and couldn't get any better, you realize they have a ton of guys on the DL.  One of those guys was Brian Bruney who the Yanks just reactivated.  This makes the road to Rivera so much easier.  Bruney has proven to be the best and most reliable reliever, other than Rivera, in the 'pen since Joba left to the starting rotation.  When we lost him to the DL, everyone thought the bullpen was going to be in terrible trouble.  Well, we were right, but that was before.  Now we have Bruney back and he will ultimately help our team.

The emergence of Francisco Cervelli has been equally huge.  With Posada and Molina on the DL, we have a youngster that has been able to fill in and do a respectable great job.  Cervelli has been solid behind the plate so far since being called up and his bat has been a huge bonus no one expected to be here.  I'll take great D behind the plate AND good offense any day.  It's a huge bonus and it's just another weapon the Yanks have in this all of a sudden hot offense.

We play two more agaisnt Baltimore before interleague play starts and we play the defending champs, the Phillies.  We've got Phil Hughes tonight against the O's ace, Jeremy Guthrie.

The Yanks are still moving up in the standings.  Our record is 22-17 and we are only 3.5 games back of the Jays.  Yesterday, the Red Sox beat the Jays 2-1.  This helps the Yanks because the Jays' lead over both teams is shortened.  If the Sox continue to beat the Jays, the Jays will only lead by a couple games at the end of the series.  With the way the Yanks have been playing, they should have no problem keeping up now that we have gotten into the race again.

Go Yanks... and Red Sox (ughhh I hate saying that).

Dillon, the Sox are killing the Jays right now so if we can hang on against the O's, we'll gain another game. Fingers crossed for our eighth "W" in a row!
